Q-100, the modified polyurea fast-cure topcoat from Quantum Resin: proprietary technology, manufactured in Brazil, and cure from 2 hours. For natural dimension stone, floors, equipment and steel structures, with no ovens and no days of closed-off area.

The modified polyurea family is the new generation of high-performance coatings: fast cure, high UV resistance, waterproofing and application even at low temperatures. The Q line is developed and manufactured by our own team in Brazil, with cure and viscosity controlled per application.

It does not alter the color of the substrate

Black stone stays black; white stone stays white. The Q line preserves the color and character of the substrate, a core requirement in natural dimension stone.

What the QUV testing shows

In accelerated weathering QUV testing (ASTM D4587, 500 h, gray test panels), a published comparative study recorded ΔE of 8.83 for epoxy and 4.83 for polyurea. Another independent source reports ΔE of 10 for epoxy with no protective topcoat, and ΔE of 2 only for formulations developed specifically as low-yellowing.

The reference standard criterion is that of SSPC-Paint 36, which considers a color change perceptible from ΔE* 2.0 (calculated per ASTM D2244), associated with gloss loss of up to 25%. The standard grades performance by the time taken to reach that threshold: Level 1 from 500 to 999 h, Level 2 from 1,000 to 1,999 h and Level 3 from 2,000 h on.

On that scale, Q-100, with ΔE < 2.0 after 2,000 h of QUV, falls in the Level 3 band, and Q-101, with ΔE < 1.5 after 1,000 h, in the Level 2 band.

* Comparison against generic product classes, at typical formulation values; it is not a specification. The ΔE figures for other resin classes are data published by third parties, obtained on specific test panels, formulations and test cycles, and serve only as an order-of-magnitude reference. They are not Quantum Resin measurements and do not characterize any competing product. Accelerated weathering tests define exposure conditions, not acceptance criteria, and have no fixed correlation with natural exposure; they should be read as a relative comparison between systems tested under the same conditions. ASTM D2244 is a practice for calculating color difference and does not set an acceptance limit. Consult each product's technical data sheet and our team for project-specific conditions.

Formulations developed for your application

Q-100 and Q-101 cover most cases, but in-house manufacturing means we can go further: when an application calls for a different cure behaviour, viscosity or resistance, our team develops the specific Q line formulation for that case. Describe the material and the working conditions. The specification follows the analysis.

Q line topcoats are supplied clear; the color is added to the customer's specification. Need a brand-standard color, an architect's reference or a shade outside the catalog? We develop custom colors, with lead time on consultation, no minimum batch. Because we manufacture the Q line ourselves, we can deliver the project's color in the quantity the job needs.

Warranty

Minimum 8-year warranty against yellowing

Q line topcoats carry a warranty of at least 8 years against yellowing under ultraviolet exposure, supported by accelerated weathering (QUV) testing, and cover the other properties stated in each product's technical data sheet. The warranty is conditional on proper substrate preparation and application per the manual. Ask our team for terms.

The performance of modified polyurea depends on the quality of the application. That is why we run a certification program with in-person training, at our plant or on the job site, with duration matched to the type and range of systems the applicator will work with. Certified applicators get direct technical support from the team that formulates the product.

§ 01 · Origin

Where our technology comes from

Modified polyurea was born in Europe in the 1990s, to protect bridges and steel structures in the harshest environments in the world. In the South Limburg chemical cluster, in the Netherlands, that chemistry evolved into the current generation of high-performance, low-VOC resins. That is the platform Quantum Resin uses today, formulated and manufactured by our own team in Brazil.
